Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan says she considers Michael Jackson as her guru because she learnt to dance after watching his videos. An era in pop music came to an end on Thursday with the sudden death of Michael Jackson, the ‘King of Pop’ in the US. He was 50. As an iconic popstar who had fans in every part of the world, Michael was an idol worth emulating for many singers and dancers. Among them is Farah Khan. “I officially had no training in dance and whatever I learnt was from watching Michael Jackson by watching his videos, especially 'Thriller' over and over again. I consider him as my guru,” Farah said.

Farah said that she heard the news on Friday as she landed in Los Angeles to meet Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan who is shooting in LA for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan .“I have just landed here to meet Shahrukh. I reached in the hotel and got to know about the sad news. It has not sunk in yet. It is still to sink in that he is no more,” Farah said.Farah remembers the 'Thriller' hitmaker as "one who revolutionized the way we look at dancing today" also recalled her encounter with the pop superstar in New York at a Bollywood awards night.“I had a won an award at the ceremony and Michael Jackson was also getting an award for his humanitarian works.The organisers knew how crazy I was for him so they did take me backstage to meet him. I have a picture with him which I will cherish all my life. I told him that I am choreographer and that is just because of him,” Farah told CNN-IBN.“I thought I would retire after I choreograph Michael Jackson,” she added.However, her dream would remain unfulfilled now.

Jackson's greatest hits album 'Number Ones' Even after his death

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, is ruling the music charts even after his death. Jackson's greatest hits album 'Number Ones', has topped the UK charts while six of the late pop legend's songs have re-entered the top 40 in the singles chart.The album containing his chart-topping hits, which was first released in 2003, rocketed from the 121st position to the top spot after the superstar's death on Thursday, BBC online reported.



This is the first time in six years that Jackson has had a number one album. Four of his other hit albums also made reappearance in the top 20.Jackson's 'Thriller', the biggest-selling album of all time, raced from 179 to number seven, 'King of Pop' reached 14, 'Off The Wall' got to 17 and 'The Essential Michael Jackson' came in at number 20.In the singles chart, 43 out of the top 200 singles feature the singer, with Jackson hits accounting for all but one of the new entries in the top 40.Overall, Jackson accounted for over 300,000 record sales across singles and albums in just two days this week.Gennaro Castaldo, of music retailer HMV said that the estimated demand for Jackson albums was now 80 times greater than the day before he died."Once we had the announcement of his death people came into our stores and we had large crowds. Fortunately we had a lot of stock because we had been preparing for the O2 concerts, but sadly we didn't expect to sell them for this reason," said Castaldo.Jackson's albums have dominated sales at music retailers and download sites across the world since his death.

Jackson's body to return to Neverland

Michael Jackson's body will be driven to his Neverland Valley Ranch in central California as early as Thursday with public viewing being set for later this week, according to media reports on Tuesday.
A motorcade of as many as 30 cars is expected to accompany Jackson's body to his ranch, which is located near the town of Los Olivos, north of Santa Barbara, according to reports by TV network CNN and celebrity website TMZ.com, citing police officials.
Entertainment news website E! News cited a Santa Barbara Sheriff's department spokesman as saying meetings were now taking place with the California Highway Patrol to discuss security for the trip from the Jackson family home in Los Angeles to Neverland Valley.
A spokesman for the Santa Barbara County's sheriff's office was not immediately available to comment, nor were representatives for Jackson's family.
Pop superstar Jackson, whose hits include "Thriller" and "Billie Jean" died suddenly of cardiac arrest last Thursday.
Jackson's birthplace of Gary, Indiana, also is planning a memorial service for the deceased singer on July 10, according to a spokeswoman for the Gary mayor's office.
Lalosa Burns, spokeswoman for Gary Mayor Rudy Clay, said the memorial service would take place at US Steel Works sports stadium, and that more details would follow. She did not have any information about the service being planned in California.

Michael Jackson may have been victimised by doctors: Deepak Chopra

Indian-American spiritual guru Dr. Deepak Chopra feels that his longtime friend Michael Jackson may have been "victimised" by doctors who allowed abuse of prescription painkillers.

Dr. Chopra, a qualified doctor and a well-known author said he had been concerned since 2005 that Jackson was abusing prescription painkillers. Speaking with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, Chopra said that Jackson had approached him in the past to ask for Oxycontin, an addictive narcotic painkiller.

Dr. Chopra described the 50-year-old singer as deeply resistant to discussion about addiction matters, but also clearly struggling with addiction, and with doctors willing to enable that addiction.






He called such doctors 'legalised pushers,' and went on to say that Jackson, had been victimised by such doctors.

Officials have identified the doctor present when Michael Jackson collapsed as Dr. Conrad Robert Murray, a Las Vegas cardiologist with over twenty years of medical experience.

Police have spoken with Dr. Murray briefly, but are reportedly seeking to interview him more fully, as he was attending to Jackson's medical needs, and likely administered any drugs the pop star ingested before his death.

Dr. Murray was reportedly hired by the concert company to attend to Jackson's medical needs up to and through Jackson's 50 show comeback tour in London beginning July 13th, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jackson had reportedly been attending regular rehearsals and returned sometime after midnight on Wednesday. The next morning, Jackson reportedly received a Demerol injection at about 11:30 a.m. The injection may have been too strong, because reports are that the singer stopped breathing (a symptom consistent with Demerol overdose).

The family of Michael Jackson says that Demerol injections killed the legendary star and that he was just a skeleton of his former self at the time of his death.

TMZ.com cited a close member of Jackson's family as saying that Jackson received a daily injection of Demerol, a synthetic narcotic similar to morphine, and that he received a shot at 11.30 am, shortly before he collapsed and died.

The movie also stars Rishi Kapoor , Neetu Singh and Rahul Khanna in significant roles. There’s also a cameo by a British model named Florence.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ has music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The film is set to release on July 31.

A madcap caper crammed with childish gags by men in drag, Paying Guests is a film full of humour that is crass, and leaves you with a sore pain in the …err…seat.

So, here’s a shot at comedy by a man who’s directed a number of plays. Paritosh Painter apparently adapts a successful play into a ‘comedy’ about four guys going out of their way, and gender, to get an accommodation as paying guests.





Shreyas Talpade , Ashish Choudhary and Javed Jaffrey are three friends in Pattaya (Thailand) who incidentally lose their jobs on the same day. Even before the three begin to pull themselves out of the uninvited misery, arrives Vatsal Seth , an uninvited cousin from India to find a job in Thailand.

To drown their sorrow the friends have a drink too much and are kicked out of their house as well by the grumpy landlord ( Asrani ).

Homeless and jobless, they eventually see the hope of getting a new accommodation with a landlord ( Johnny Lever ) who wants only married couples as paying guests.

You don’t need to be a Kurosawa to figure out what happens next. Two of the four friends decide to dress up as women.

While men dressed up as women frustrate you with their over-the-top antics, the real women ( Neha Dhupia , Celina Jaitley , Sayali Bhagat and Riya Sen ) have roles shorter than their clothes. The script seems like a series of slapstick jokes strung together to camouflage the holes in the plot. The humour, which borders on mockery rather than wit, is too deliberate and forced at places. And the climax (in a theatre play) seems shamelessly inspired from the climax of Kundan Shah’s gem of a movie ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’.

Synopsis
‘New York’ is a contemporary story of friendship set against the larger than life backdrop of a city often described as the centre of the world.

Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh) has gone abroad for the first time in his life and soon enough he begins to see and love America through the eyes of his American friends – Sam (John Abraham) and Maya (Katrina Kaif).

It is the story of these three friends discovering a new world together.

At this point enters Agent Roshan (Irrfan), an FBI undercover agent. He sets the ball rolling for a series of tumultuous events that turn the lives of these friends into a dangerous and thrilling roller coaster ride.

‘New York’ is directed by Kabir Khan of Kabul Express fame. He is a talented director. ‘New York’ is his second commercial movie.

The music of the film is by Pritam and one song has been done by Pankaj Awasthi. Lyrics are penned by Sandeep Srivastava and Junaid Wasi.

The film is entirely shot in New York and Philadelphia. ‘New York’ will hit the theatres on June 26.

Michael Jackson read Tagore poems in his last days

Deepak Chopra, the self-help guru and a close friend of the deceased pop icon Michael Jackson, recalls the last days of the ‘king of pop’. Tributes are pouring in from around the world following the sudden death of Michael Jackson on Thursday. Deepak Chopra, who has been Michael’s friend since last 20 years, was in regular touch with the pop star in his final days. In his tribute to Jackson on huffingtonpost.com Deepak recalls talking to the late star just two weeks before his end came.
he was reading the poems of Rabindranath Tagore when we talked the last time, two weeks ago,” Deepak wrote in his post. In fact, just two days before his death, Michael called Deepak, but the two couldn’t talk. So the singer left a voice message for him.“Two days previously he had called me in an upbeat, excited mood. The voice message said, "I've got some really good news to share with you." He was writing a song about the environment, and he wanted me to help informally with the lyrics, as we had done several times before. When I tried to return his call, however, the number was disconnected,” Chopra remembered.Chopra first met Jackson in 1988 and has been his friend since then. Describing Michael as “shy and introvert”, Chopra remembers bonding closely with the superstar while working on a book with him. “I sat with him for hours while he dreamily wove Aesop-like tales about animals, mixed with words about music and his love of all things musical. This project became ‘Dancing the Dream’ after I pulled the text together for him, acting strictly as a friend,” Chopra wrote.

Michael Jackson's sudden death

The Los Angeles Coroner's office on Friday ruled out foul play or "external trauma" in pop icon Michael Jackson's death after conducting an autopsy.The autopsy on the body of Jackson has been completed, but the cause of death has not been determined, Coroner's spokesperson Craig Harvey told reporters in Los Angeles.The cause of death has been deferred, which means the medical examiner has ordered additional testing such as toxicology and other studies, Harvey was quoted as saying by CNN.



"We anticipate being able to close the case and issuing a final cause of death" after those tests are completed in "four to six weeks", he said.Investigators were also turning to Conrad Murray, a cardiologist tapped to be Jackson’s personal doctor, for information about Jackson’s health and use of drugs. Police, however, stressed that Murray was not the target of a criminal investigation, and coroner’s officials said there was no evidence of foul play."There was no indication of any external trauma or indication of foul play on the body of Jackson," Harvey said.The spokesperson also provided a few other details about the autopsy and said Jackson was taking prescription medication. "We know he was taking some prescription medications," Harvey was quoted as saying by Los Angeles Times. However, he did not elaborate.He said that Jackson's body is now available for release for funeral.The pop star died at a hospital in LA on Thursday after a cardiac arrest. People close to the singer have claimed that his dependency on prescription drugs led to his sudden death. His close friend Deepak Chopra has raised this issue in his tribute to Jackson.
