Tata Nano has won millions of hearts after it’s launch three days ago in Delhi. One amongst many admirers was Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt, who visited the Auto Expo with his girlfriend Manyata, yesterday.

The ‘people’s car’ attracted Sanjay so much that he chose to gift it to Manyata, instead of a DC designed car worth $1m, as he had planned before.



Congrats Sanjay! You just saved Rs.3,99,00,000 by choosing the World’s Cheapest Car! The Tata Nano’s launch on Thursday marked the day that India’s skills in “frugal engineering” – once represented by clunky, garishly painted Tata trucks, antiquated Ambassador taxi cabs and Mahindra jeeps – finally came of age. Nano has certainly made waves with it’s sleek modern looks and incredibly cheap price. The grandeur of it’s launch was in many ways related to that of the iPhone in US!



The Rs.100,000 (£1,300) price is about half that of both the Maruti 800, the cheapest car on Indian roads, and the Chery QQ, China’s cheapest model.

Talking about Sanjay, he’s always been passionate about wheels. Having driven Ferrari, Lexus, Hummer and Harley Davidson… this guy surely knows his machines.

What better could he have thought to gift his girlfriend than a car?… A record-shattering car!

It's common knowledge that the producers/distributors [United Producers/Distributors Forum] has decided against screening any new film at multiplexes from 4th April onwards. However, a few reports in the media seem to suggest that the strike is for a limited period and the flow of new releases will recommence from 1st May onwards. Not true!

The strike called by the United Forum is for an indefinite period. The standoff continues with no solution in sight, while you are reading this news-piece.

Another misconception that needs to be clarified pertains to the release dates. Will it get chaotic once the United Forum calls off the strike? Or will there be a systematic way of releasing new films?

The Forum has decided to sit together and chalk out the release dates. For instance, a film announced for 17th April [before the strike was implemented] will be given preference over the film slated for release on 24th April or 1st May. No jumping of queue will be encouraged.

Right now, all release dates are uncertain till the United Forum calls off the strike.

PS: Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh are holding a press conference together today [Tuesday] to champion the producers/distributors' cause. It's interesting to note that the two superstars have set aside all personal differences to address this issue

Amitabh cheers for Preity Zinta's IPL team

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan went out of his way to cheer Preity Zinta’s team Kings XI Punjab ahead of the upcoming IPL tournament.

Preity Zinta ’s IPL team is not in the best of spirits. Since it has quite a few Sri Lankan players, the team may be feeling a bit demoralized due to the recent terrorist attack on them. Add to it the disappointment of the tournament’s venue being shifted to South Africa. However, Preity knows how to boost the team’s morale.

“Preity had called last evening for a request - her IPL team was hugely depressed and she was wondering if I could do a small TV bite to cheer them up. I did that and I hope it makes them happy,” Amitabh posted on his blog www.bigb.bigadda.com.

Mr. Bachchan is very fond of Preity and she, too, shares an excellent rapport with the Bachchans. Not only has she acted with Big B in films like The Last Lear , Veer Zaara and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna , she went out of her way to be part of the Bachchan troupe when they went on a world tour last year.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s ‘unbutton’ act at Lakme Fashion Week has raised a few hackles and might land the actor in a legal soup.

At Tarun Tahiliani’s exclusive Levi’s show on day 4 of Lakme India Fashion Week, the Levi’s brand ambassador Akshay Kumar did something that has grabbed headlines. While walking the ramp in Levi’s jeans, Akshay stepped off the catwalk, went to his wife Twinkle Khanna in the front row got his denims unbuttoned by her.

“We are conducting an inquiry into Akshay Kumar's alleged obscene acts during Lakme Fashion Week held here recently after we received a complaint from a person called Anil Nair,” a police officer is quoted by a news agency.

‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ is a fast-paced, romantic musical thriller that promises some great edge-of-the-seat action.
